Paid to Drink? Sign Us Up

Looking for an awesome way to make a little side-coin? Well, now may be the time to relocate to London because Meantime Brewing Co. wants to pay you to drink.

The “competitive”-ly compensated requires three hours of your time each Friday morning. You will be asked to drink and discuss beers as part of the brewers panel. Of course, you need to know your way around a beer to be considered.

Applicants will be considered about their 30-words-or-less reasoning as to why they should be chosen. To be considered, applications have to use #pickmemeantime.

At the time of writing this article, responses appear to be few and far between. The vast majority of tweet responses at this point come from Germans:

The World’s Big Drinkers

In related news, Japanese brewer Kirin recently released statistics on which countries are the biggest beer drinkers on earth. The top ten included some of the usual suspects such as Czech Republic (37.6gal per person/year), Germany (27.7gal per person/year), Austria (27.7gal per person/year), Poland (26.2gal per person/year) and Ireland (25.8gal per person/year), but also included some rather surprising nations.

Coming in at number 2 overall was the Seychelles, an archipelago off the eastern coast of Africa boasting a population of just 92,000. With the average Seychelloise consuming 30.3 gallons of beer annually, the total consumption of the island is approximately 2.8million gallons. Sounds like they know how to party.

Other surprising nations (at least to me) include Namibia (27.1gal per person/year) and Belize (25gal per person/year). Lithuania and Romania round out the top ten consuming countries
