Master of Marzen 2019 – Round 1

It's here y'all! Round 1 of the first annual Master of Marzen. This bracket has been months in the making and I'm incredibly excited. Not only is marzen my favorite seasonal style of beer, I have held off drinking any until the bracket. As many in the craft beer community have noted, marzen season kicked... Continue Reading →

Beer Review – Tyskie Gronie

On one fateful August day, I was prowling the aisles of my local Total Wine and More, deciding what delicious alcoholic goodness I would bring home with me when I stumbled upon a brew named Tyskie in the "Europe" section. I quickly realized that this beer was Polish, and having never tried a Polish beer before, I added it to my cart. About a week later I tried it and posted a picture on my Instagram feed, which was immediately met with disdain coming from Polish beer drinkers. That little story alone should give you a pretty good idea of where this review is heading.

Beer Review – Andygator

Abita makes awesome beer. That's a clearly established fact. Since trying my first Abita brew in May, I have tried two more and all three have been great. Of those, their spring seasonal offering, Strawberry Lager, is one of my favorite beers I have tried since starting this website. Time and again, I received recommendations to try Andygator, and I was happy to oblige.

Beer Review – Pliny the Elder

This is a beer that, seemingly, needs no introduction. Pliny the Elder has captivated the craft community for quite some time. Brewed by Russian River, based of of California, Pliny has developed a reputation for punching you in the mouth with 100 IBU of hops, but doing it in a lovable, classy way. With 174,000 reviews ratings on Untappd, Pliny has managed to maintain an obscenely high 4.55/5. So when I was presented an opportunity to do a beer trade for a couple bottles, I jumped at the chance.

Beer Review – Prima Pils

Keeping up with the summer theme, I decided to review Victory Brewing Company's Prima Pils! What's better on a hot summer day than a clean, crisp, refreshing pilsner beer? Would Victory's offering meet expectations? Or would this be a mediocre player in a heavily saturated market?

Beer is Now Cheaper than Soda in Philadelphia

If you needed any encouragement to choose a beer over a soda, you've got it (especially if you live in Philadelphia). A Fox News report, dated August 8, 2017, suggests that an increased tax on soda now makes beer a more cost-effective option than its non-alcoholic competition.

Beer Review – Goose Island Summertime Kolsch

Goose Island's Summertime Kolsch is another one of the beers I picked up for inclusion in the Battle of the Beers - Summer Brews article. I picked it up as a single bottle from Trader Joe's (BTW, they will let you pick any bottle from any six pack, unlike many other stores). Having seen a lot of Goose Island's products, but having never tried one, I figured now was as good a time as any.
