Battle of the Beers – OCTOBERFEST Week 2

Welcome to week two of my Octoberfest experiment! While I've never been to the real deal in Germany, Octoberfest seasonal brews are probably my favorite seasonal offerings of the year. Over the duration of September and into October, I am going to be trying many of the seasonal brews available in San Antonio, with the aim of crowning the best Octoberfest brew.

Is IPA Causing Your Man Boobs?

You're almost certainly familiar with the term "beer-belly", referring to the bloated, pudgy belly associated with the over consumption of beer. But research has emerged linking excess hop consumption to gynecomastia, colloquially known as "man boobs".

Brew News – AB InBev’s Craft Beer Pivot

In recent weeks, I've talked at length about AB InBev's rocky relationship with craft beer as it adjusts to stem the bleeding caused by a growing thirst for craft beer. But recent news of significant staff cuts comes with a revised strategy when it comes to craft breweries.

Battle of the Beers – OCTOBERFEST Week 1

What's up y'all? Its early September which means it's almost Octoberfest! While I have never been, but would love to go, to a proper Bavarian Octoberfest celebration, I still enjoy the Octoberfest seasonal beers. To be honest, this is BY FAR my favorite time of the year from a seasonal beer perspective.

AB InBev’s Rocky Relationship With Craft Beer

U.S. News recently published an article explaining that AB InBev employees have access to facilities allowing them to small-batch brew their own beers. As part of team building exercises, groups of employees compete to create the tastiest beers in the "Star Shop Brewery" facilities.

Beer Review – Andygator

Abita makes awesome beer. That's a clearly established fact. Since trying my first Abita brew in May, I have tried two more and all three have been great. Of those, their spring seasonal offering, Strawberry Lager, is one of my favorite beers I have tried since starting this website. Time and again, I received recommendations to try Andygator, and I was happy to oblige.

Beer Revew – Samuel Adams Berliner Weisse

The Samuel Adams Beers of Summer Variety pack is an interesting group of brews. Of course, the flagship Boston Lager is included. My first "new" choice of the pack, the Summer Ale, failed to meet my expectations. It seemed confused as to what it hoped to be, and so it really didn't become anything distinguishable. It was bitter, its was sour, it was meh. After a couple weeks rest, I decided to have another crack at the 12-pack, this time selecting the Berliner Weisse. As a wheat beer fan, I was cautiously optimistic.

Beer Review – Prima Pils

Keeping up with the summer theme, I decided to review Victory Brewing Company's Prima Pils! What's better on a hot summer day than a clean, crisp, refreshing pilsner beer? Would Victory's offering meet expectations? Or would this be a mediocre player in a heavily saturated market?
