Beer Review – Stone Tiki Escape Mix Pack

Beer fans from the US, and many around the world, are likely well aware of Stone Brewing’s reputation for making tremendous beer. For many years now, Stone has been one of the most highly rated and ubiquitous breweries in the nation. When I recently saw the launch of their Tiki Escape IPA and a corresponding... Beer Review – Tyskie Gronie

On one fateful August day, I was prowling the aisles of my local Total Wine and More, deciding what delicious alcoholic goodness I would bring home with me when I stumbled upon a brew named Tyskie in the "Europe" section. I quickly realized that this beer was Polish, and having never tried a Polish beer before, I added it to my cart. About a week later I tried it and posted a picture on my Instagram feed, which was immediately met with disdain coming from Polish beer drinkers. That little story alone should give you a pretty good idea of where this review is heading.

Beer Review – Saint Arnold Summer Pils

And here we are. The final full review of the six-beer competition that was Battle of the Beers - Summer Brews. This one is very much the traditional summer-style pilsner beer. This is in no way a bad thing. Light, crisp and refreshing pilsner style beer can be a God-send on a 100+ degree summer day in Texas.

Beer Review – Sierra Nevada Summerfest

While Sierra Nevada is a world-renowned craft brewery, particularly due to its annual Beer Camp release, I had never tried one of their beers before. I picked this one up as something to consider in my Battle of the Beers - Summer Brews article. In this review, I welcome myself to the world of Sierra Nevada with their 2017 Summerfest Pilsner.

Beer Review – St Arnold 5 O’Clock Pils

In response to my previous review of Shiner Light Blonde, I was advised to try St Arnold 5 O'Clock Pils. What I enjoyed about Shiner's offering is the improved depth and flavor profile compared to the traditional American lagers such as Bud Light, Miller Lite and Coors Light.

Battle of the Beers – Summer Brews

As we come to the end of July, it may seem as though Summer is almost through. But here in South Texas, we are just starting to hit our stride of 100 + degree days. Summer sun means pools, beaches, rivers, barbecues and trying anything possible to beat the heat.

Given the time of year, I took it upon myself to collect (and drink) a number of breweries' seasonal offerings, in the name of science. In this Battle of the Beers, I will be ranking these brews from worst to first.

Beer Review – Kalik

On a recent trip to my local Total Wine and More store, looking for beers to review, I came across a beer I had never heard of before in the "Americas" section. Kalik is a lager brewed in the Bahamas. Interestingly, I had never tried a beer from the Caribbean and so I figured I would give it a shot.

Beer Review – Purple Haze

On viewing Abita's list of beers, a handful excited me. One of those was their perennial Purple Haze. Billed as a raspberry infused lager that pairs well with desserts, I was intrigued and new I would have to try it. I hoped that Purple Haze the beer would be as great as Jimmy Hendrix' classic.
